Training of health professionals in humanitarian actions, FORDEP humanitatian medicine

Setting up of 2 humanitarian medicine training sessions, support for health professionals in their humanitarian projects, from 26 October to 6 November and 22 March to 2 April in Association Humacoop offices in Grenoble.

The objectives of the sessions were:

  • to train health personnel to practice medicine in a precarious environment

  • to adapt the lessons to the expectations of volunteers and NGOs

  • to include in the training session a reflection on the consideration of local actors and the contexts of intervention.

  • 8 people, mostly women (6 nurses, 1 doctor and 1 medical and programme development coordinator) participated in the first session.

  • 9 people, mostly women (5 nurses and 4 doctors), attended the second session.

The training was carriend out by 19 professionals, field experts with an open vision and an experience of several years around the world allowing them to share their experiences and the reality on the ground.

These courses will continue with a new session in autumn 2010.
