Chagas information bulletin (3)

13 September 2007, Argentina

In Argentina, Fondation Mérieux is taking part in a screening and treatment study on the Chagas disease.

This disease becomes chronic in 30% of cases, and after several years causes irreversible damage to the digestive and cardiovascular systems, which may lead to death.

Financed by Fondation Mérieux, this work is run by Doctor Hector Freilij, from the parasitology department of the Ninos Ricardos Gutierrez hospital in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This research is carried out in partnership with FIPEC.

Valentina Picot, coordinator of the project for Fondation Mérieux, regularly publishes an information bulletin on this disease available in PDF.
