Combining immunotherapy and vaccination to treat chronic infections

10 June 2009, Annecy (France)

Chronic infections are persistent and long lasting sometimes causing life-long diseases. In chronic infections, one or more infectious agents, mostly viruses or bacteria, replicate in a host despite it's immune response.

15 - 17 June 2009, Les Pensières, Annecy (France)

After invasion of a host by the pathogen, many criteria determinate victory or defeat for the host. Generally, a victory against the pathogen requires a balanced response from the host; too much response can damage the host itself whereas too little response allows the pathogen to reside in the host and establish a 'chronic' infection.

The aim of the conference is to discuss new technologies and progress made in the field of vaccination and immunotherapy against various chronic infections including cancer, multiple sclerosis, atherioscleriosis and Alzheimer disease.
