Roots for life

Grants Programme

Fondation Mérieux's grants programme contributes towards financing projects that aim to improve the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases and support infected patients.

Fondation Mérieux's grants programme is open to the projects of private individuals, organizations or associations, provided that they are long-term and that they have not already received significant financial support. Any project must meet the following criteria:

  • It is run in a  developing country by local people;
  • It relates to HIV / AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, hepatitis and other infectious diseases that represent significant problems to public health;
  • It provides concrete solutions that are suitable and sustainable for the local population.

An annual total of 100,000 euros is allocated every year by Fondation Mérieux to this programme.

Up to twenty projects are selected annually, in two selection sessions (one in April and the other in October of every year).  The selected projects will be able to receive a maximum grant of 5,000 euros.

The last date for submitting projects is 1 March for the April session and 1 September for the October session every year, (a grant notification will be sent to the recipient by the end of April for the March session and the end of October for the September session).
