One of the principal missions of Fondation Mérieux is to encourage the sharing of scientific research and hands-on knowledge and expertise.
Since its creation in 1967, the foundation has organized a number of symposia, conferences and seminars, both in France and abroad, on infectious diseases and public health issues specific to developing nations.
It has also organized training in vaccinology, diagnosis, epidemiology and laboratory management. This training is intended for scientific experts, clinical laboratory staff, and public health students.
