Bill Clinton, former President of the USA, currently the United Nations special envoy to Haiti, returned to Port-au-Prince to meet with government and aid officials.

Within the framework of this visit, Bill Clinton has also been to the GHESKIO Centre and met with Professor Jean-William Pape, Founder and Director of the GHESKIO Centre.

Mr Clinton praised the progress being made in the relief effort, especially in addressing the need for food, shelter and security, but he expressed a growing sense of urgency about the country’s requirements for sanitation and health care.

Fondation Mérieux continues its action in the field. Two French experts met with the local partners of the foundation. They aim to evaluate the priorities and needs in medicine as well as the state of the buildings of the IMIS Centre where the Rodolphe Mérieux Laboratory is located which has not been damaged.

Rodolphe Mérieux Laboratory should be open in the coming days thanks to the help of qualified organizations.

Mr Alain Mérieux, President of the Mérieux Foundation, will be in Port-au-Prince on 15 February to meet local partners (GHESKIO, ACME, AKTKK…) and study their priorities in this new start phase.
