Once a year, since 2007, Fondation Christophe et Rodolphe Mérieux awards the Christophe Mérieux Prize to a researcher or a research team studying infectious diseases in developing countries.
The Institut de France chooses the prize winner according to the list of researchers identified by Fondation Mérieux from its various activities in the field.
This price is intended to:
help research on infectious diseases in developing countries;
reward research teams working permanently in the centre of infected areas in an exclusive way.
This distinction offers each recipient international recognition. The award money helps accelerate and sustain research.
