Support to local initiatives

Support for displaced populations in Iraq*

  • Delivery of medicine and food: Fondation Mérieux contributed to the delivery of a ton of medicine and first aid medical and surgical supplies from the NGO Tulipe (International Emergency and Solidarity by Healthcare Companies) and 13 tons of food through a partnership with the Rhône-Alpes Region.

  • Construction of housing for 250 families in Erbil for war displaced people from the Nineveh Plain in partnership with Fondation Saint-Irénée, Fondation Raoul Follereau, the Rhone-Alps Region and City of Lyon

  • Construction of Saint-Irénée school for displaced children in Erbil ( Eastern Iraqi Kurdistan): To ensure that displaced children continue schooling, Fondation Mérieux, in partnership with the Fondation Saint Irenée, built a school of 18 classrooms for 900 students who will be able to attend classes in their own language.

Assessment mission for the construction of a medical center with a medical laboratory for displaced persons

  • The establishment of this center will strengthen pathogen detection capabilities.
