  • New regional platform for research on infectious diseases on the Institut Pasteur campus in Phnom Penh (AVISEAN Network) (2014)

  • BiodivHealthSEA project
    This project is to study the impact of global changes on zoonotic infectious diseases (60% of emerging diseases), focusing mainly on those transmitted by rodents, linked with changes in biodiversity.

GABRIEL network multi-center studies

  • Epidemiological study to identify the pathogens responsible for severe pneumonia in children under 5 years of age
    The objective is to identify viral and bacterial agents associated with severe pneumonia in hospitalized children to determine the etiologic distribution and involvement in pneumonia.

  • Development of diagnostic tools for pneumonia: Streptococcus pneumoniae strain typing in multiplex PCR

Training and knowledge sharing

  • E-learning module in Khmer "Biosafety and management of biomedical waste"

  • Organization of the workshop "Revising the National Strategic Plan for Medical Laboratory Services 2010-2015"

Support to local initiatives

  • Support to the NGO "1001 Fontaines"* (People’s choice Award 2015 - Google Impact Challenge, France)
    This association aims to ensure access to clean water to improve the health of rural populations in Cambodia. Fondation Mérieux conducted a study to research and analyze pesticides and other sources of contamination in clean water to determine the risks associated to such exposure.

  • Support to the NGO Magna - Children at Risk* for treatment of HIV-positive orphans and prevention of mother to child transmission
    Fondation Mérieux supports Magna NGO whose mission is to provide medical care for children and their families in times of humanitarian crises, conflicts, epidemics, famines and natural disasters.

  • Support to the children’s home "Dr. Christophe Mérieux Center" in Phnom Penh *
    This center offers access to higher education for most disadvantaged school children in Cambodia, in partnership with the NGO "Enfants du Mékong".
