The building work restarted on campus in August 2009 and the structural phase of the building work will be completed during the last two weeks of November. The boundaries of the different parts of the building can already clearly identified.

The building work is expected to be finished by the first 3 months of the 2010.

Work is also taking place with the authorities of the university with two main aims:

  • The installation of the governance of CICM (internal administrative function / relations with external institutional partners);

  • Organization of scientific research programmes.

At the request of the Vice President of the university, a symbolic ceremony to 'bless the building site' was organized for Tuesday 20 October 2009, when the building works were at an advanced stage and the objectives of the future CICM had been established.

This celebration, considered essential in Madagascan culture, was jointly organized by the Faculty of Medicine and the Foundation Mérieux, and allowed the gathering together of the builders, university representatives as well as the representatives from the Ministry of Health.
