The seventh University Young Researchers is a multidisciplinary 1-week training course with all areas of HIV research. It was held from 11 to 17 Octorber 2009 in Carry-le-Rouet (France).
The main challenge is to motivate young researchers to undertake long-term research on HIV with the following objectives:
to present HIV infection with a multidisciplinary approach to research;
to reflect on the problems of research and the difficulties faced by people living with HIV in the north and south;
to establish collaborative links between young researchers from all disciplines and to learn to work together.
42 young researchers participated in this training out of 79 applications studied. 26 participants came from France and 18 from 11 differents countries (Burkina Faso, Benin, Burundi, Cameroon, Cote d'Ivoire, Brazil, Cambodia, Central Africa, Romania, Senegal and Togo).
33 speakers gave 18 conferences in the form of plenary sessions with time reserved for exchanges with the audience. 2 debates and a working group were organized with the objective to develop a multidisciplinary research project during 5 workshops.
