Sino-France cooperation to prevent and treat turberculosis

The Chinese Ministry of Health and Fondation Mérieux held their project kickoff meeting with chinese provincial reference labs in Beijing on 21 August.

The project aims to improve detection rates and the identification level of MDR strains in the coming three years through the human resources training, the infrastructure construction and the research of diagnostic method.

The Ministry of Health and Fondation Mérieux started collaboration from the beginning of this year. In the infrastructure construction, they concentrated on a national tuberculosis reference lab and a regional tuberculosis reference lab to attain international advanced levels and to improve the overall detection standard of China. In the education and communication field, they planned to train trainers abroad, then the trainers will train the Chinese lab staff to gradually transfer advanced detection measure and experiences to labs nationwide.

The experts of France and China will visit and observe two provincial reference labs to understand the lab detection situation in China, to find the most adapted new detection method for China and discuss the construction of the lab network.
