Summary
The meeting will be an opportunity to present an update on the GTFCC and the Ending Cholera Roadmap and in this context to discuss the engagement of the Surveillance Epidemiology and Laboratory WG in the implementation of the roadmap. Specifically, the proposed objectives of the meeting are to:
- Provide an update on the Ending Cholera Roadmap and Framework
- Review of what has been accomplished of intended work plan since last meeting
- Present for review, discussion, and next steps the concrete Epi and Lab offer of services to countries engaged in cholera control: diagnostic goods (RDTs, lab materials, sample and shipping materials), paper-based tools: guides, job aids, trainings, SOPs, Outbreak response – Field Manual and electronic-based tools: web and Cholera App. How to deliver them to countries requesting.
- Review opportunities and challenges in creating and maintaining global databases for cholera surveillance and Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) data.
- Presentation and discussion of the multiple methods to identify country hotspots, discuss and develop a standard set of recommendations and support services for country hotspot identification and monitoring that reflect End Cholera Roadmap implementation strategy, as well as reflecting country ownership and priorities for NCP development an implementation.
- Agree on recommendations for national laboratories for the preservation, management and international shipment of cholera strains including quality assessment.
