Mérieux Foundation event
8th Vaccine Acceptance Meeting
March 29 - 31, 2021 - Les Pensières Center for Global Health, Veyrier-du-Lac (France)
The Vaccine acceptance meetings were created in response to the urgent need to create awareness about vaccine resilience / vaccine acceptance / vaccine confidence and the major public health impact that this situation is causing, with critical reduction in vaccine coverage and the re-emergence of well controlled diseases (for example measles, yellow fever, amongst other).
Significant gaps in coverage in both infant and adult immunization programs across the world mean that hundreds of millions of people are not being protected against serious infectious diseases. There are a myriad of reasons for low vaccine uptake including challenges to access, affordability, awareness, acceptance and simple activation of people to act.
Within this context, The Mérieux Foundation continues the annual gatherings on this topic, this year being the eighth meeting on “Vaccine acceptance” to foster the dialogue, knowledge and awareness on this increasingly important subject with a special session dedicated to the impact of Covid-19 in the routine immunization practices
