Christophe Mérieux Laboratory’s research focus: pneumonia & tuberculosis
In 2014, we received the honor of being the third international foundation to have been recognized by the Chinese Ministry of Health. A research cooperation agreement was officially signed in 2015 between the Mérieux Foundation, the Charles Mérieux Center for Infectious Disease in Mali and the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences.
Access to diagnosis
Since 2008, we have carried out a program, with the Chinese Ministry of Health, to decentralize the diagnosis of tuberculosis and its resistance to treatment with the support of Fondation Christophe et Rodolphe Mérieux. The aim is to improve local care capacity in regions where the disease is particularly prevalent.
Enhancing research capabilities
As part of the GABRIEL network, researchers at the Christophe Mérieux Laboratory in Beijing benefit from and training modules developed by the Emerging Pathogens Laboratory in Lyon and organize training for other GABRIEL members. They take part in the CARE project (China Against Drug Resistance) to support the rational use of antibiotics and the control of hospital-acquired infections. The project is carried out in partnership with the Chinese Ministry of Health, the Chinese Medical Association and with the support of bioMérieux China.
