Rodolphe Mérieux Laboratory in Cambodia

Rodolphe Mérieux Laboratory in Cambodia

Unique in Cambodia, the Rodolphe Mérieux Laboratory has high-tech equipment

In 2005, Fondation Mérieux converted a floor in the Faculty of Pharmacy in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, into a Rodolphe Mérieux Laboratory for training and infectiology research. This project was carried out in partnership with the Cambodia Department of Health, Fondation Christophe et Rodolphe Mérieux and the Health and Science University in Cambodia.

A laboratory equipped according to international quality standards

This is the first structure in the country to comply with the same building, equipment and quality standards as laboratories established in developed countries. With elements such as relief locks between rooms, air and effluent treatment systems, a room complying with BSL-2 biosecurity standards and a white room, the Rodolphe Mérieux Laboratory is designed to prevent any risk of contamination of samples, the people who handle them and the environment.

This 120 m2 structure includes an analytical chemistry laboratory and a molecular biology platform with four work areas.

Open to local scientists

Today, the Rodolphe Mérieux Laboratory is developing its activity and has three type 2 structures. The different collaborations (ANRS, DSO Laboratory in Singapour, Institut Pasteur of Cambodia) allow us to increase research and diversify the financing.

The Rodolphe Mérieux Laboratory is member of the network of laboratories GABRIEL Network.
