Objectives

The OASIS project – One Health AMR Surveillance through Innovative Sampling – aims to test a community and population-based antimicrobial resistance (AMR) surveillance strategy.  This strategy will be tested in a global health context (One Health).

OASIS is a project of the European JPIAMR (Joint Program Initiative for Antimicrobial Resistance), coordinated by the Amsterdam Institute for Global Health and Development. It brings together partners in human and animal health.

Activities

The Mérieux Foundation coordinates the human health component of the project that will be implemented in Togo and Burkina Faso.

The project activities include:

  • The development of an approach based on a batch sampling method, applied to AMR surveillance in a One Health context.
  • The implementation of a surveillance based on a batch sampling method, applied to human health in a community setting.
  • The validation of surveillance based on a batch sampling method, applied to animal health in a high-income setting.
  • Capacity building in epidemiology and implementation of a research project on AMR surveillance.
