This is a crucial step to improve patient care, fight antimicrobial resistance, respond to outbreaks, and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals ensuring healthy lives and wellbeing for everyone.
ACDx advocates for the role and the value of diagnostics in global health and builds capacity for critical decision-making on diagnostics in developing countries through partnerships and networks. This week-long intensive course is led since this year by Dr Joseph Tucker from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and Dr. François-Xavier Babin from the Mérieux Foundation.
The program is developed with a Steering Committee comprising representatives from UNICEF, WHO, The Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases (TDR), the US Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Africa CDC, Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), Global Fund and the Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics (FIND).
ACDx welcomes about 30 English-speaking participants each year from science, academia, industry, government and non-governmental organisations. Some of them receive fellowships to attend the course.
