Strengthening the resilience of diagnostic capacity in fragile settings

Organized by the Mérieux Foundation

May 22, 2026

2.30 pm - 4.30 pm
Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) Avenue Giuseppe-Motta 31-33, 1202 Geneva . Switerland

While the 79th World Health Assembly will be underway, the Mérieux Foundation is pleased to invite you to its side event.

In the context of multiple global crises, health systems are under increasing pressure, particularly in resource-limited countries, further exacerbating inequalities in access to diagnosis and care.

Drawing on field experience, this interactive session will demonstrate that, even under extreme constraints, it is possible not only to sustain but even to strengthen diagnostic capacities.

Moderator

Prof. David Heymann, Professor of Infectious Disease Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, Senior Fellow at Chatham House and Honorary Member of the Mérieux Foundation’s Board of Directors.
