This strategy represents an important step toward strengthening communication about health risks in Madagascar. It aims to improve public information, promote health-promoting behaviors, combat rumors and misinformation, and encourage community participation in the prevention of and response to health emergencies.
The Mérieux Foundation is proud to have provided technical support for the development of this strategy, contributing its expertise to a collaborative process that brought together national institutions, sectors involved in the One Health approach, and technical and financial partners.
Based on the principles of Social and Behavioral Change Communication (SBCC) and Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE), this strategy will contribute, for the period 2026–2030, to:
- strengthen the prevention and management of health risks
- improve the country’s preparedness for epidemics
- promote an integrated approach to human, animal, and environmental health
- encourage community engagement in protecting their health
Because the health of people, animals, and ecosystems is inextricably linked, the success of this strategy depends on a collective effort in support of One Health.
