Mérieux Foundation co-organized event

2nd Advanced Course on Diagnostics in French on the African continent (Afro-ACDx)

November 20-25, 2022 - Dakar (Senegal)

Context

Participants of the Advanced Course on Diagnostics for French-speaking African countries (afro-ACDx)

The Mérieux Foundation has been present in West Africa for almost 10 years with several local offices and the RESAOLAB programme to strengthen clinical laboratories and national healthcare systems. Laboratory managers/directors need to strengthen their leadership skills to improve the capacity of their laboratories and consequently be able to act more effectively in the prevention and control of infectious diseases at community, regional and national levels. This need is even more acute in the context of recent epidemics (COVID, Ebola and others).

The Advanced Course on Diagnostics in French on the African continent (Afro-ACDx) was therefore designed to meet these needs by linking the international ACDx course currently offered in France with the GLLP (Global Laboratory Leadership Programme1) learning programme which offers a training module on leadership skills. It is intended for directors or managers of diagnostic laboratories and critical decision makers in the field of human and animal health diagnostics in Africa.

In collaboration with the Institut Pasteur in Dakar, the Mérieux Foundation launches the second edition of the Afro-ACDx course on the African continent in French from November 20 to 25, 2022, in Senegal.

The Scientific and Pedagogical Committee of the course is composed of representatives from the following institutions: World Health Organization (WHO), WHO/AFRO, Africa CDC, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), African Society for Laboratory Medicine (ASLM), Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), Institut National de la Recherche Biomédicale (INRB), Institut Pasteur, West African Health Organization (WAHO), Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics (FIND), Réseau d’Afrique de l’Ouest des Laboratoires d’Analyses Biologiques (RESAOLAB), private laboratories in Africa.

1This programme has been developed by six organizations: Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), European Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (ECDC), Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), World Health Organization (WHO).
