MOOC on Quality management in medical biology laboratories

The quality of a laboratory is seen as its ability to provide accurate, reliable results at the right time and at the best price, so that clinicians can determine the appropriate treatment for patients.

To achieve this goal, processes and procedures must be implemented in the laboratory. The Quality Management System is the application of a specific approach to achieve customer satisfaction and compliance with requirements.

This MOOC on “Quality Management in a medical biology laboratory”, created by the Mérieux Foundation, in partnership with Afnor and Institut Pasteur aims to:

• Understand why quality is imperative for a laboratory, no matter what your role
• Gain insights into the mechanisms of the ISO 15189 standard
• Understand what methods and tools are needed to set up a quality management system

In this course, you will find instructional videos covering the fundamentals of quality and exploring how a quality management system impacts all of laboratory processes. More focused videos on certain technical concepts are also available to allow you to learn how to implement quality in your laboratory. In addition to these resources, feedback from people working in laboratories that have set up a quality management system will serve as testimonials to help you gain a concrete understanding of the implementation of this approach, particularly within a context of developing countries, such as Burkina Faso, Haiti, Laos and Mali.

This MOOC has been developed in French but has content available in English. English-speaking participants are eligible to apply for a certificate of knowledge after attending the MOOC.
