48 courses, 3120 trained professionals , a real success beyond doctors wishing to improve their knowledge and vaccine practice, in the field of infectious diseases.
…In 1999, Fondation Mérieux, in collaboration with the University of Geneva and Sanofi Pasteur MSD, created the French Vaccinology Course.
This one day course aims to build on, and update, health professionals’ knowledge, improving medical practice in the prevention of infectious diseases. It allows practioners to better understand the epidemiological impact of vaccine methods and fixed public health objectives, at a national rather than international level.
The module presents basic principles needed for informed, well adapted choices in terms of vaccination, as well as arguments in response to patients’ questions such as vaccination safety.
Since its creation, 48 courses have been delivered in Lyon, and then shared throughout France; 3120 professionals have attended training sessions.
In 2011, 3 training days took place in Nantes, Toulouse and Marseille.
This course is aimed at all doctors and health professionals who practice vaccination:
- Doctors and freelance health professionals: general practioners, paediatricians, nurses…
- State employed doctors and health professionals: ministry of health doctors and local professional bodies, doctors in the education system, occupational physicians, nurses, midwives and other health professionals interested in vaccination in the course of their practice.
The course is delivered by two experts:
Professor Claire-Anne Siegrist
Paediatrician, infectiologist, immunologist
President of the federal vaccination commission
Doctor Nicole Guerin
Honorary member of the Technical Vaccination Committee
