Mérieux Foundation & Pasteur Center of Cameroon co-organized event

12th GABRIEL network international meeting

May 31 2023-June 02 2023 - Yaoundé (Cameroun)

Context

The 12th GABRIEL network meeting will take place from May 31 to June 2, 2023 in Yaoundé, Cameroon. Co-organized by the Mérieux Foundation and the Pasteur Center of Cameroon, with the support of bioMérieux and Illumina, this international conference brings together approximately 80 participants from more than 15 countries, who meet every 18 months to present and exchange the results of collaborative research and design new projects within the network.

For this new edition, the program will be spread over 3 days. The first day will be dedicated to the organization of a symposium composed of 4 sessions:

  • Preparedness for outbreaks of emerging and re-emerging pathogens
  • Surveillance of emerging pathogens at the human-animal interface
  • Surveillance of vector-borne diseases
  • Surveillance of neglected diseases.

The second and third days (for the network members only) will be dedicated to the scientific themes developed within the GABRIEL network: tuberculosis, acute respiratory diseases, antimicrobial resistance and emerging pathogens.

Finally, the “GABRIEL Young researcher Award”, created to support the career development of promising young scientists in the GABRIEL network, will also be awarded.

About the GABRIEL network

The GABRIEL network was created by the Mérieux Foundation in 2008 and currently has 21 member laboratories in 16 countries. The network brings together Rodolphe Mérieux Laboratories, local reference laboratories, as well as academic, university and hospital research institutes. This international scientific network works in synergy to strengthen research and training capacities of local laboratories and to improve the surveillance of diseases with a major impact on public health in low-income countries.
