Vaccinology 2016: X International Symposium for Latin American Experts

Background

The 10th Vaccinology International Symposium for Latin American Experts organized by Fondation Mérieux and the Latin American Society for Pediatric Infectious Diseases (SLIPE) was held with success from the 20 to the 22 of September in Brasilia, Brazil.

The meeting aimed at providing an update on vaccination status in the Americas, at observing global and regional vaccine programs and vaccination strategies, as well as, to understand the benefit of Public health interventions and associated cost-effectiveness, with special focus on Dengue vaccine.

Very central personalities were present, such as Dr. Ricardo Barros, Minister of Health of Brazil, Dr. Adeilson Loureiro Cavalcante, the Health Surveillance Secretary of Ministry of Health from Brazil, Dr Carmen Deseda, president of SLIPE and Dr. Edson Moreira from the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation, Dr. Roberto Tapia form the Carlos Slim Foundation, amongst other relevant personalities.
